国防

We Serve, Salute and Soar.

The feeling is pronounced – that lump in your throat triggered by a deep sense of patriotism. We are proud to support those who serve our nation and preserve our freedoms, and we are proud that our efforts have earned a national ranking as one of the country’s top military-friendly cities 1.

Home to dozens of defense-related companies dedicated to global security by providing services ranging from protecting the homeland to managing government information systems for crucial operations such as at Offutt Air Force Base, USSTRATCOM and the Air Force Weather Agency.

The Peter Kiewit Institute’s (PKI) supercomputer attracts defense industry projects and PKI is certified by the NSA. The school provides highly trained students with security clearances to industry for work on our nation’s most vexing problems.

Offutt Air Force Base

We enjoy a symbiotic relationship with Offutt Air Force Base, one of our largest employers. Its operations support a combined military and civilian workforce of approximately 10,000人, and its profound impact on our economy averages almost two billion dollars annually 2.

Offutt plays a crucial role in U.S. national defense, housing the 55th Wing, Air Combat Command’s largest wing; headquarters for United States Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM); the Air Force Weather Agency; the 595th Command & Control Group, stationed at Offutt AFB and aligned under the 8th Air Force and Air Force Global Strike Command, and the new Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC) Annex.

USSTRATCOM broke ground in late fall of 2012 on a state-of-the-art command and control center. The estimated $1.1 billion project is projected to be completed in the fall of 2018 with full occupancy expected by the end of that year.

Offutt’s core missions include deterrence, 空间, cyber空间 global weather, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. The community and Greater Omaha business leaders organized the 内布拉斯加州 军事 Support Coalition to support existing missions and seek new ones.
